Colour Fun Run

Year 5 are excited to announce that next Friday, 10th June 2022 we will be hosting a Colour Fun Run for all students to support those who have been affected by the recent floods in Queensland and New South Wales.

Who: Students in Prep – Year 6

When: Friday 10th June 2022 (please see timetable below)

Where: School Oval (weather permitting)

Why: Year 5 annual fundraising initiative and Project Based Learning (PBL) unit – Students in Year 5 have been learning about ‘What are the issues that Australia and its people face and how can we use empathy and compassion to make a positive difference to our community’. Year 5 have organised all the details for this day along with organising the Colourful Free Dress Day earlier this term and the Colour Fun Run Raffle!

Cost: $10 per student ($20 for families with two or more students) OR an item donation to go towards ‘Joy Bag’. The $10 ticket OR item donation includes the following:

• Colour Fun Run
• Disco
• Icy Pole

Joy Bag donations can include:

• Books
• School supplies
• Art & craft supplies
• Cuddly, soft toys
• Games
• Colouring in books
• Stickers
• Stationery

Payment or donations are due by Thursday 9th June via My School Connect. If you wish to bring in a donation towards a ‘Joy Bag’ please ask your child to hand this to their classroom teacher and a Year 5 representative will collect this.

If you don’t wish for your child to participate, they are welcome to attend the disco on the oval.

ALL money raised will be directly supporting those who have been impacted by the recent floods in Queensland and New South Wales.

Dress:

Students are to wear the following to school on Friday 10th June”

• Old, light coloured clothing (colour powder shows up on lighter clothing)
• Old sports shoes

Please make sure your child(ren) have the following items in their bag

• Non-school, old hat
• Eyewear (goggles, sunglasses)
• Towel
• Facemask (for students with asthma and/or respiratory conditions – see below)

Students in Prep – Year 3 along with ALL students who catch a bus are required to bring a change of clothes. Please ensure these free dress clothes are sun safe.

Medical Conditions: The colour powder that Year 5 will be using is a non-toxic solution of cornflour and food-grade colouring. Whilst colour won’t be thrown at students’ faces, we ask that students who have asthma and/or respiratory conditions wear a facemask.

11:00am – Prep

11:20am – Year 1

11:40am – Year 2

12:00pm – Year 3

Lunch

1:30pm – Year 4

2:00pm – Year 5 & 6

Spectators: Parents are most welcome to come along to watch on the day. We ask all parents to stay in the spectator area.

Raffle Tickets:

Raffle tickets are selling fast! We are overwhelmed with the support that we have received by the community. There are over 40 prizes to be won! We kindly ask that all sold/unsold raffle tickets are returned to classroom teachers by Monday 6th June. There are a few spare booklets at the office for any families that wish to purchase or sell more – Please get in quick!
